Laziness in reciting Quran
Lots of Muslims, while they are excellent in keeping up with their daily prayers 5 times a day and other fundamentals of Islam, somehow quite lack the enthusiasm to read the Quran daily as well. This should be quite a concern for them especially when they give invalid excuses for not being able to read the Quran regularly. These excuses range from not having the ability to actually read the Arabic language to not having the “time” to do so. Whatever the excuse, it paves a big way for you to move further away from Allah. What is the lesson learnt from this? Do NOT be lazy in reciting the Quran, the word of Allah.
Allah says in the Quran about not giving it its fair share of importance. He says “And the Messenger (PBUH) will say: O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Quran (neither listened to it, nor acted on its laws and teachings)”. (Quran, Surah Al-Furqan,25:30).
The above can and certainly will happen if you do not make reading the Quran a daily habit. What starts with laziness to read Allah’s word will eventually become you giving other things more importance than reciting it, like playing a game for instance. When you have exhausted all your time not remembering Allah, Shaitaan is in a perfect position to complete that guilt of yours by telling you that “Well you haven’t read the Quran anyway, you might as well not bother now, as if it’ll make a difference”. This, again, is a dangerous trick of shaitaan who is watching you get lazy and is taking full advantage of it.
You may say you read the verses of the Quran in your Salah (again that is a dangerous trick of Shaitaan to lure you) but deep down you know that by NOT reading up extra on the word of Allah you yourself are denying your being the chance to get close to Him, to love Him as the Supreme Being and to follow His commandments. So what CAN you do to make sure that laziness to recite the Quran goes away? You can FIGHT all those excuses that you came up with (in short you can fight the shaitaan). If you feel you don’t have time, you must take out 5 minutes; c’mon you can do 5 minutes! If you feel you can’t be fluent, you can join an Arabic school. You can fight it by looking for solutions and you WILL be successful if you try with all sincerity.
And remember, do NOT underestimate the power of the word of Allah.
