Benefits of Reciting the Quran
Quran is the Book of Allah; it is not a common book but a divine book of God. It is the timeless speech of Allah, guiding about the life and death, and also about what will come after. Therefore it deserves a more careful study than any other book. So, being a Muslim, we should recite Quran daily with better understanding in order to improve our life and hereafter too.
There is a great reward of understanding the Quran, also we must try to implement the teachings of Holy Quran in our daily lives. Similarly recitation of the Quran has its own benefits, rewards, and virtues too.
Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) said,
“Whoever recites ten Ayahs (verses) in qiyaam, will not be recorded as one of the forgetful. Whoever recites a hundred Ayahs (verses) in qiyaam, will be recorded as one of the devout, and whoever prays a thousand Ayahs (verses) in qiyaam, will be recorded as one of the muqantareen (those who pile up good deeds).” (Abu Dawood)
In another Hadith, Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) said,
“Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who finds difficulty, stammering or stumbling while reciting Quranic verses, then he will get TWICE that reward.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari).
A person who is putting extra effort to learn and recite the Holy Quran, for pleasing Almighty Allah, will get a double reward.
We all should try to take out our time for the recitation of Quran because in this way Allah is pleased with us and we will get the double reward, in this world and in the next world too. In order to recite and understand Quran one must know the real purpose behind the revelation of Quran. The purpose of revelation is mentioned in Quran itself, in Surah Sad, verse 29:
“[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded”.
The above verse clearly states that if we want our life to go smooth and peaceful then we must take help from the Holy Quran, and this is only possible when we open it (Quran) daily to seek guidance. Therefore, if one does not read Quran on daily bases, he or she is actually missing a chance of getting inspiration to examine all the things Allah has created and all the matters of life.
There are multiple benefits of reciting and understanding the Holy Quran.
• The Quran will intercede for us on the Day of Judgment: Prophet (SAW) said that: “Read the Quran, for verily it will come on the Day of Standing as an intercessor for its companions.”(Sahih Muslim)
• Recitation of Quran purifies the heart of a Muslim. Allah says in Quran in Surah Yunus, verse 57:
“O mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers”.
• A person who reads Quran is the best of the people. Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) said,
“The best of you are the ones who learn the Quran and teach it to others” (Sahih Bukhari)
• There is 10 times reward on each utterance of Quranic words. The Hadith states that,
“Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” (Tirmidhi).
• One of the major benefits of reading Quran is that a person can get details of information on daily life matters. Allah says in Quran in Surah Az-Zumar, verse 27:
“And We have certainly presented for the people in this Qur'an from every [kind of] example - that they might remember”.
• There is a chance to stay interacted with Almighty Allah, and the person who stays connected with Allah can never go wrong.
“And when he (Prophet) recited the verses which referred to the Glory of Allah, He glorified him, the Great, and when he recited the verses that mention supplication, He supplicated, and when he recited the Verses that mention seeking Refuge of the Rabb He sought (His) refuge” (Sahih Muslim).
Daily recitation of Quran brings reward from Allah and indeed it is one of the major ways which can lead us to the paradise.
