We can save people from Suicide
What is Suicide?
Suicide is the intentional taking of one's own life. Several religions believe it a sin, and also some states regard it a crime. Many cultures, on the other side, regard it as an acceptable route out of some embarrassing or hopeless conditions.
To be termed suicide, death has to be a primary component and aim of the act, rather than just a virtually definite outcome. As a result, suicide bombing is regarded as a type of bombing instead of a type of suicide, whereas martyrdom, is defined by self-sacrifice for the sake of others in catastrophes and reckless courage in war.
How does Islam see Suicide?
Life, according to Islam, is not our own; rather, it is given to every human being as a responsibility. In Islam, it is not allowed to kill another human being's life without cause, nor is it permitted to kill one's own being; both are grievous sins, according to Islam.
Allah says in Surah Al-An’am, verse 151:
Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason." [6:151]
Allah has also mentioned the same advice in Surah Al-Isra, verse 33:
“And do not kill the self that Allah has prohibited, except by truthful (right) (Literally: with the truth). And whoever is killed unjustly, We have (already) appointed to his patron authority. So let him not exceed (Literally: be extravagant) in killing; surely he will be vindicated” [17: 33].
Allah has further stated in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 195:
“And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good” [2: 195].
What these Verses are teaching us?
All of the above verses are paying strong emphasis on being thankful to Allah that He has given us life and indeed life is the greatest blessing. The verses also state that since life is a great blessing and so how sinful it is to become thankless on this blessing and take your own life.
What should be Beliefs of a True Muslim?
Therefore, we Muslims should need to understand that there could be ups and downs in this life and there could be times when we feel hopeless. At such hard moments we need to recall only one thing that this is life and not heaven; thus, worst situations are parts of life. Another important thing that we humans need to put firm belief in, is that Allah is always there to listen us and to take us out of hard times.
As Allah has beautifully stated in following verses of Surah Ash-Sharh:
“And We removed from you your burden” [94: 2].
“So, undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease” [94: 5]
People who are responsible for Suicide
There is not a single person who is responsible for the suicide; however, there are so many people who are responsible for suicidal sin associated with one person.
As Allah Almighty has instructed people of this world to be kind with others. This statement implies that there should be no one around us who is feeling alone and hopeless. If we cannot do “maximum” to people around us then we should do “some” for them. It is our responsibility to look around always and see that if there is someone who is in need and then we should try our best to divide some of our happiness to cater another person’s needs.
Why do People go for Suicide?
People sometimes get overwhelmed by the worries and crises they are facing. When they feel no way to escape from crisis and worries then they go to end their worries by ending their lives.
What Helps a Person to Survive?
One of the most important things which are the way of survival is the true belief in the mercy and justice of Allah Almighty.
Moreover, love, care, and kindness are some tools which we all should get mastery of so that we together can make this world a happy place. If we all do these things towards other people then there might not be a single person left who prefers suicide over asking for help.
Support and love from family, friends, and relatives could help greatly to such sufferers for surviving in this world. People should try to remove toxicity, hatred, jealousy, and such negative traits in order to make this world a happy and peaceful home.
As Allah says in Quran, in Surah Al-Anbya, verse 107:
“We have sent you forth as nothing but mercy to people of the whole world” [21: 107]
