The month of Blessings
Ramadan is the Holy month in the Islamic Calendar and each and every day and night of Ramadan indeed consist of great blessings. In Ramadan Muslims are invited to perform maximum good deeds and maximum worship of one and only Lord (Allah). Every deed multiplies with great rewards in the month of Ramadan. Thus, we as a Muslims need to supplicate forgiveness for our wrong deeds in the month of Ramadan and in other days as well; but since Ramadan gives number of opportunities of forgiveness and so Muslims shouldn’t miss these opportunities. And indeed Allah is the most forgiving and merciful.
Ramadan brings many Opportunities of Blessings
There are so many good events which occur in the month of Ramadan which give chances to Muslims for doing maximum good deeds and to erase their bad deeds with good deeds.
Help in breaking other’s fast at Iftar
In Ramadan we daily get a chance at the time of Iftar that by just one meal box we can feed the person who has been fasting the entire day. Our beloved Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) said:
“Whoever helps to break the fast of a fasting person (giving food), he will have the same reward as him without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.” [At- Tirmidhi]
Feeding the poor
Islam has put great emphasis on sharing your wealth among poor or feed them with the food you choose for yourself, as Allah will increase a person’s wealth and food in return of this deed. In Ramadan we have ample of chances to feed the people around but to find the right people who are in real need is the condition of feeding them. We should avoid giving food to street beggars as they do not really deserve. We can give ration at the houses of our maids or other people whom we find them needy.
Allah says in Quran in Surah Al-Isra, verse 26:
“Give to close relatives their due, as well as the poor and ˹needy˺ travellers. And do not spend wastefully”. [17:26]
Strengthen the ties of Relationships
Ramadan also brings the most beautiful event “EID” and Eid is incomplete without relatives and siblings and parents. Thus, Ramadan gives chances for Muslims that if there is any relationship who is displeased with them or angry with them regardless of any reason, then in thirty days of Ramadan they have a chance to connect with their beloved ones. It is easier to forget your ego and connect strengthen your ties with your relationships in Ramadan because evil powers are chained and locked in the month of Ramadan.
Narrated by Abu Huraira that Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) said:
“When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are put in chains.” [Sahih-Bukhaari (3277) and Muslim (1079)]
Small Things which lead people to Jannah
Hence, it has also been said by Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) in the following Hadith that paying Salam, feeding people, strengthening ties among kinship, and offering prayers in indeed the best practices for Muslims; not only in Ramadan but in other months as well.
Abdullah bin Salam (R.A) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, “O people, exchange greetings of peace (i.e., say: As-Salamu ‘Alaikum to one another), feed people, strengthen the ties of kinship, and be in prayer when others are asleep, you will enter Jannah in peace.” [At- Tirmidhi]
We can develop all these habits in the month of Ramadan because we have so many good chances and opportunities in this Holy month as there is not devil and evil powers which can stop us or be hindrance in our good deeds. We can practice these things in the month of Ramadan and then continue these practices throughout a year (by the grace of Almighty Allah, InshaAllah).
