Islam has valued women for their intelligence
Women are Intelligent
Islam has valued women for their intelligence, strength in character, and their way of managing the life and children. Women are indeed made with patience, love, creativity, and character. Since, woman is made with love and so she only understands the language of love.
Talk to women with gentle attitude
Islam is the religion who has given most of the rights to the Muslim women and who has advised men to talk to women with respect. Islam has particularly asked to talk with love, care, and gentleness when it comes to your wives.
"Women in Islam are not accepted, do not have freedoms, and are mistreated." These all are misunderstandings of people around the world about Islam. Whenever we examine the life of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H)., we can observe that these assertions are completely false.
Importance of women in lives of man
Quran says:
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought” [Surah Ar-Rum, 30:21]
Islam establishes equal rights for both men and women. Even though both these genders play’s different roles and have different responsibilities but both have equal rights. Islam has given women the right to retain their identity, to work, to study, to own and even marry someone of their choice.
Allah says in the Qura’n, “To whoever, male or female, does good deeds and has faith, We shall give a good life and reward them according to the best of their actions” [16:97].
Women have greater importance in the lives of men as they both are given different roles, rights and responsibilities.
As stated in the Hadith,
“A man is expected to be the “guardian of [his] family,” whereas a woman is expected to be the “guardian of her husband's home and his children.” [Sahih Bukhari 9:89:252]
Khadijah (A.S) – The first Women of Islam
Remarkable women had done remarkable things in every field of life and in history. A great example of intelligence and a true inspiration for today’s women is Hazrat Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (Khadijah, daughter of Khuwaylid and wife of our Prophet (P.B.U.H). She and many other Sahabiyaat in the history are exceptions of women that their extra ordinary worth cannot be ignored.
Hazrat Khadija (A.S) was a powerful woman, who was smart, independent. People wanted to work with her because of her key traits that made her stand out. She married Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and fully supported him such that he could preach with all his energy. She sustained him in the path of spreading Islam till the rest of her life. She also protected Prophet (PBUH) with her influence and power when spreading Islam was dangerous. Thus, she is still remembered as a woman of courage, virtue, intelligence and devotion to Allah and her family.
Righteous Woman, their Characteristics and Qualities
The position and role of women as per Islam and Quran holds greater value. They play different roles as a daughter, wife, mother and sister.
As A Daughter
Quran has clearly mentioned daughters as ‘Rehmat’ (رحمة) and ended the cruel practices of burying the daughters by mentioning their importance. As mentioned in Qura’n, “When the female (infant) buried alive is questioned for what crime she was killed” [81:8/9].
Further, people who do not show welcoming attitudes when daughters are born are criticized at different instances. As Allah says,
“When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) a female (child) his face darkens and he is filled with inward grief! With shame does he hide himself from his people because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain her on (sufferance and) contempt or bury her in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on!” [16:58-59].
As a Wife and Mother
As wife women are an important pillar of the family like men who are the leaders as well as their sustainers. They take care of children and home in the absence of men. Women are considered as the guardian and protector of home and children. Similarly, they play an important role in the nourishment and upbringing of children as a mother.
As mentioned by Allah in Quran:
“The mothers shall give suck to their offspring for two whole years if the father desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the cost of their food and clothing on equitable terms. No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear. No mother shall be treated unfairly on account of her child nor father on account of his child. An heir shall be chargeable in the same way if they both decide on weaning by mutual consent and after due consultation there is no blame on them. If you decide on a foster mother for your offspring there is no blame on you provided you pay (the mother) what you offered on equitable terms. But fear Allah and know that Allah sees well what you do” [2:233]
Allah has given women a respectable position in this society. There are many verses that protect women’s rights and define their significance and value in the life of men and society. Their virtue, intelligence and strong character ensures them respect and protection within the society.
